windows console tool to transform an xhtml1 file (encoded as ascii or
8859-1) into a plain-text ascii or 8859-1 file in a simple way.
the transform is:
* translates name entities into ascii or 8859-1 chars
* translates italic tags into single chars (optionally)
* strips out all other tags
* wraps and breaks lines
* 'lat1', 'special' and most of 'symbol' entities supported by default
* 'symbol': mathematical, technical, geometric and miscellaneous
groups unsupported by default
requirements
------------
* Windows 95 or later, or Windows NT 3.5 or later
* Pentium I or equivalent AMD, or later
* 1M ram
* 64K disk space
installation
------------
copy DeXhtml.exe to wherever.
* no other runtimes needed
* no installation needed
* does not write to the registry
* does not modify files
usage
-----
DeXhtml [-e...] [-i...] [-w...] [-o...] filepathname
-e set extra/overriding entity translations
-i[char] set italic tag translation character (defaults to strip)
-w<32-256 | 0> set line wrap length, 0 = no wrap (defaults to no wrap)
-o set output filepathname (defaults to inputfilepathname.txt)
example:
DeXhtml -eentityfile.txt -i_ -w70 -oanotherfile.txt somefile.html
entity translation file must contain lines of name and string pairs,
for example:
